My name is Barb Dockter and I have been doing photography on a professional level for over 15 years. I started very young in photography, in High School I was obsessed with capturing the right moments, developing and printing and took several independent studies to learn about camera settings, and processing and different effects one could create. As I got older I pursued it further and first went to work for Wal-Mart Portrait studios, which I quickly learned was not for me, as I enjoy spending time with my subjects and getting to know them and their personalities not just pushing them through as fast as possible. Shortly there after I was offered the opportunity to go to work for Harold's Portrait Studio in Sioux Falls, and I learned so much by working there, it was on the job that I learned lighting and other important aspects of photography. I was truly blessed working with some of the best teachers who encouraged me to grow. I learned posing technique and lighting for large groups and with my natural eye for photography was asked to do several weddings for friends and relatives, which bloomed into doing weddings all over the country on referral which for weddings is still how I prefer to work. I was employed by Las Vegas Photo and Video and shot weddings in both the Paris Hotel and the Monte Carlo Hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. I have shot weddings in such locations as Walt Disney World in Florida, the Dominican Republic and hundreds of other locations through out South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nevada. I love what I do, and I love being creative. I truly enjoy not only taking the photos, but sitting down afterwards and using my creative skills to edit and enhance and bring out my subjects personality.
